To Promote the Vision and Action of Co-construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st-Century Maritime Silk  Road

   In March 2015

    More than 2,000 years ago, the industrious and brave people on the Eurasian continent explored many trade and cultural exchange routes linking Asia, Europe and Africa which were collectively referred called the Silk Road. For thousands of years, spirit of the Silk Road -‘peaceful cooperation, opening up and tolerance, learn each other, mutual benefit and win-win’ passing on, to promote the progress of human civilization. It is promoting the prosperous development of all countries along the important link, it is a symbol of east-west exchanges and cooperation, it is the common historical and cultural heritage of the nations of the world.
     Entering the 21st century, in a new era holds the theme of peace, development and cooperation and win-win, facing the sluggish recovery of global economy and the complicated international and regional situation, inheritance and carry forward the spirit of the Silk Road is more important and valuable.

    In September and October, 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping, during a visit to central Asia and southeast Asia countries, successively put forward the major initiative to co-construct ‘the Silk Road Economic Belt’  and ‘the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road’ (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Belt and Road Initiative’), which  drawn so much attention of international society. When Premier Li Keqiang attended the 2013 CHINA-ASEAN Exposition, he emphasized the need to construct Maritime Silk Road facing Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and to build a strategic pivot for the development of the hinterland. Accelerate the construction of ‘the Belt and Road’, will be beneficial to promote the economic prosperity and regional economic cooperation of countries along the road, and to strengthen exchanges between different civilizations, and then promote world peaceful development. It is a great undertaking to benefit people all over the world.
